If adding the game fails
- Unsupported file type
- Select the actual .gba file. ZIP, 7z, saves, patches, and files for other consoles are not game imports. Changing the extension does not convert a file.
- Empty file
- Check the file’s size in your file manager. A zero-byte file cannot be imported; use an intact copy of the game you are entitled to use.
- Could not read / permission denied
- Reselect the file through Android’s picker. Confirm its storage location is available and the file can be read. If using a document provider, make sure the file is available rather than only an inaccessible placeholder.
- Not a valid GBA ROM
- The app’s native header check rejected the file. Confirm it is actually a GBA file and not a damaged copy or renamed archive. Do not edit headers just to bypass the check.
- Already in the library
- Look for the existing game. Single-file imports are checked for identical content, so a different filename does not necessarily create a new entry.
If an existing entry cannot open
A message about a moved, deleted, or inaccessible file means the library cannot read that entry’s source.
- Identify how you added it
A single-file import uses an app-private copy. A folder entry keeps reading the original folder file.
- For a folder entry, restore access
Check that the original file and storage are present. Select the folder again with Add Games Folder and grant read access. Use Settings → Language & App → Rescan All Folders to refresh its contents.
- Protect progress before rebuilding entries
Export any available current save or backup before removing or re-adding a game. Re-adding a file should not be treated as a guarantee that previous entry-specific progress will reconnect.
See the two import methods for a fuller explanation of the storage difference.
If the game starts but the result is wrong
Use Start Game on the game page to try a normal boot instead of resuming an older emulator state. If the issue followed a save import, use the save checks.
For a patched game, confirm the required base and patch version. Keep the original intact and consult patching errors. Passing a header check does not guarantee every game or modification will run correctly.
If the problem remains, record whether failure happens before or after the game starts, the exact error, and your device/app versions for a support report.
