Start with the kind of progress you opened
No saved progress yet means a usable current Game Save is not present. Save through the game’s own menu first. Playing for a while or creating a snapshot does not by itself prove the game wrote a Game Save.
After importing, the game still shows old progress
- Confirm you imported into the correct game’s Saves → Import Save flow.
- Choose Restart Now after a successful import, or use Start Game from the game page. Successful import also tells the app to use a normal boot next time.
- Do not manually load an older snapshot or Timeline checkpoint over that new save; its captured state may contain older progress.
- Check whether the save belongs to the exact game version, region, or patch you are running. An accepted file can still contain incompatible data.
Before repeating an import or restore, keep an exported copy of any current progress worth preserving. See the backup and export workflow.
Match the import message
- That file is empty
- The selected file contains no data. Choose a non-empty export of the intended game’s save.
- That file is too large to be a valid save
- The importer rejects files above 256 KiB. Confirm you selected a .sav rather than a ROM, archive, or emulator snapshot. Do not truncate the file to force acceptance.
- Couldn’t read that file
- Check access to its location, then reselect it in Android’s picker. Confirm the destination from your previous export actually contains the file.
- Import failed
- The app could not finish writing the imported data. Keep the source file, check available device storage, and retry only after preserving any accessible current save.
Import checks readability and a non-empty size up to the limit. It does not establish that the bytes represent valid progress for your game. A renamed snapshot is not converted into a Game Save.
Backups and exports
A backup is corrupt or restore fails
The app verifies stored backup data before restoration. A missing or checksum-mismatched file cannot be restored normally. Preserve other copies and use another known-good backup or an external .sav export. A local backup is not a cloud recovery service.
Export fails or the destination is empty
Confirm Current Progress exists, or select an available backup. Try a readable, writable destination in Android’s document picker and check the resulting file after export. Do not uninstall until you have verified the copy.
Automatic backups are not increasing
Check Settings → Saves & Timeline → Auto Backup, save inside the game, and use the normal game exit flow. Unchanged save data can be skipped, and older automatic backups rotate at the selected retention limit.
